Larijani criticizes double standard approach to human rights issues

Algerian Prime Minister - Iranian Majlis speaker

Tehran, Nov 23, IRNA: Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Monday criticized double standard approach of Western governments to human rights issues.

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.

The Algerian prime minister is currently on a visit to Iran to attend the 3rd Summit of Leaders of Gas Exporting Countries Forum.

Larijani said that human rights have turned into a tool by certain governments for undermining global peace and security.

He hailed Algeria's stand about Iran's nuclear program and the humanitarian crisis in Syrian, saying, 'Our international stances are close together.'

Larijani regretted that supports from certain regional countries have helped terrorist groups to undermine regional security.

'Now that criminal acts of terrorist groups have endangered their allies, global efforts to destroy them have intensified,' Larijani said.

Meanwhile, the Algerian prime minister congratulated Iran on achieving a landmark nuclear deal with world powers.

'We are witnessing war and conflict in Syria, Libya, Iraq and Yemen and many governments are concerned about deterioration of humanitarian crisis,' Sellal said.

He said that Daesh terrorist group is seeking to tarnish the global image of Islam and leaders of Muslim countries have to exercise vigilance and refrain from internal conflicts.
