The Algerian Cultural Days were inaugurated on Tuesday 27th October, just days ahead of the anniversary of Algeria’s 1st November Revolution by the Algerian ambassador to Tehran and the Iranian Minister of Culture at the Grand Hall of Tehran’s Milad Tower.
Algerian Ambassador, H. E. Mr. AbdelMon'aam Ahriz along with H.E. Mr. Ali Jannati, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran sat together to watch minutes of the movie “The Battle of Algiers” directed by Gillo Pontecorvo and then they pronounced speeches in front of the Iranian officials, members of foreign missions and Iranian tourism agencies and economic players.
H.E. Mr. Ahriz welcomed, in his speech, the improvements in bilateral ties in cultural fields and said: “Such events will help us to build and raise trust and mutual understanding and improve relations in different grounds of cooperation”. As for him, the Iranian minister emphasized on the place of culture in strengthening the friendship ties between nations.
H.E. Mr. Ali Jannati addressed the audience in a brief speech and said : “I really appreciate the good taste and manner of the Algerian officials in holding such events and expect to see different countries brought together via these joint events”.
“Relations between Iran and Algeria have enjoyed cordiality and cooperation in cultural matters and similar activities in political issues made by both countries can also deepen ties in other fields”, Jannati added.
During this week, which will last until 30 October, the movie "The Battle of Algiers" (1966) will be screened and the Algerian sectors of tourism and crafts will be highlighted through series of documentaries.
An exhibition of Algerian painting, pottery, ceramic arts, traditional costumes and dishes is also included in the programme.
Organized 15 days after the Iranian cultural week in Algeria, as part of the "Constantine, Capital of Arab Culture 2015" event, Algerian Cultural Days are held in Milad Tower of Tehran, a tourist site in the Iranian capital.
