Opening of 2nd Algeria-Iran Business Forum in Teheran
WWW.ALLAFRICA.COM – 16 May: The second Algerian-Iranian Business Forum opened Monday in Teheran, with the participation of large number of Algerian and Iranian businessmen.
Organized after last December's first forum, this meeting is co-chaired by Minister of Industry and Mines Abdessalam Bouchouareb, and Iranian Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Valiollah Afkhami Rad.
Officials from the Ministry of Industry and representatives of economic organizations with the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) and the National Agency of Investment Development (Andi) are also present in this meeting.
The main sectors represented in this forum are energy, building, agriculture and food industry, textile, mechanical industry and pharmaceutical industry.
Bilateral business meetings between the Algerian and Iranian companies will be organized to consider the possibilities of investments and partnerships.
Before the opening of the Forum, Bouchouareb met with President of the Iranian Trade Chamber Djalal Bor, on the means of reinforcing the Algerian-Iranian economic relations in partnerships and commerce.
During this meeting, the minister said that the lifting of international sanctions on Iran, decided last January, represented an opportunity to strengthen the economic relations which remain below the expectations and the ambitions of both countries.
Algeria seeks to take advantage from Iran's experience, which managed to reduce dependency on hydrocarbons by creating a strong industrial base.
